‘Bury AFC’ wins fans vote as new club name

With a leading 39% of the first-round votes & an overall share of 58% of the 792 fans who voted in our poll indicated a clear selection of….

Bury AFC

to become the official name for what has previously been called Bury Phoenix Club. This club has been set up as a new team to rise from the financial collapse and expulsion from the EFL of Bury Football Club.

The club affiliated with Manchester FA in early December and has already submitted an application to join the North West Counties Football League for the 2020/21 season. Revenue is already being generated through various events and merchandise sales.

The club colours will be no surprise to anyone, with fans overwhelmingly supporting use of traditional Bury colours of white shirts, blue shorts and blue socks when asked within our supporter survey. Fans will be invited to input further into the details of the club kit and badge over the forthcoming months.

Groundsharing agreements have been progressed but the club will also actively pursue the acquisition of Gigg Lane.

The birth of Bury AFC ensures that football will be played and watched in Bury next season, no matter what else happens.
